Group Polarization
Groups become more extreme together.
We always want to belong, systems of crime and dehumanization have noticed this, every group that starts out for a great cause is filled with people motivated to do good things together...
Then one person (usually aggressive or narcissistic) gets into the group and changes the dynamics, the focus and the reason becomes warped to something almost against the groups original plans...it starts out good, then is quickly turned into a monster.
This usually happens to control the groups power...
Lets take the NRA - they started as Rifle training, shooting ranges that focused on gun safety...they were the ones to put restrictions of mental health, age and impose licensing on industries that sold guns (to protect minors)...
This controlled who could sell weapons.
Right after they imposed the licensing laws they were inducted into Government and the leadership was changed
The next things they were doing was fighting to alleviate gun laws and enforcing the bear arms constitutional rights...how quickly this perspectives changed under new leadership...Government run Industrial Machine
Today they are the most dangerous USA industry in the world 3 - 5 Million members all holding Guns. (it would be better if they were the military)
The total number of gun holding positions across all branches of US military is estimated to be 4.5 million solders.
