Construction Season Survival Self-Care Legend for the Map

Construction Season Survival Self-Care Legend for the Map

Winnipeg’s “Calm Route” Survival Guide 2026

A Self-Care Traffic Awareness Campaign by Inkfluence of Art

Winnipeg’s construction season is one of the most stressful parts of everyday life for many residents. Congested roads, detours, trains, delays, rushing, aggressive driving, and uncertainty can increase stress, anxiety, fatigue, and emotional overload.

The goal of this campaign is not just to “avoid traffic.”

It is to help people:

  • Plan calmer routes

  • Reduce emotional overload

  • Create healthier driving habits

  • Use delays as mindful moments instead of stress triggers

  • Promote emotional wellness while commuting

The City of Winnipeg currently has major roadway projects underway across many high-traffic commuter corridors. (City of Winnipeg)

Art Life Coaching Activity:

In this post, You have the option to engage in an art activity (outside driving time of course) down load a Winnipeg Street Construction Map or if you want to include transit routes get a free map at the transit center or download one from the Winnipeg Transit site...

Copy-Print the legend icons in this post or recreate and add your own self-care and behavioural management (use bright color or fun icons to keep your focus) you could use stickers as markers to, but you will want a legend to relate the sticker to the new behaviours.

Add them to your printed map, spend some time creating and memorizing your personal Calm Routes to work, school or daily activities, adding the icons on the map, helps focus your start, Check your map before you leave for each destination and re-enforce at long stops you won't need it in 1-3 months of using these simple fun activities to get you to your destination...Stress Free!

Option with Caution:

*[If computer graphics is your preferred art choice - create a digital map in google maps or any other map app that builds with AI] just remember you can't be using your phone while you drive $200 min fine...or a life altering event is not lowering stress.

Suggested “Calm Route Corridors” (Lower Construction Stress Routes)
