A Sermon for Great Friday
Umma of Inanna — INK-Spirit
By JEY of Went
Opening Chant
We gather in light, each carrying a ray,
Different in view, yet one in the day.
With open hearts, we choose to see,
Through one another, we become free.
Message
Today we gather not in fear of change,
but in recognition of it.
Because to be human… is to shift.
We are like rays of sunlight—each one touching only a small part of the Earth at any given time. From where we stand, we believe we see clearly… yet we only illuminate a fragment.
And so, we are not meant to stand alone in our knowing—
we are meant to combine our light.
Perspective is not a weakness.
It is the design.
When we respect each other’s position—not to conquer it, not to correct it, but to understand it—the world becomes more whole. The light spreads wider. Truth becomes less about control… and more about connection.
This is the shift we are living in now.
On This Day of Reflection
Good Friday has long been understood as a day of loss, sacrifice, and grief.
And from one perspective, it is.
But today, we gently expand that view.
What is called “good” has often depended on who holds the power to define it.
There have been ages shaped through structure, hierarchy, and control.
And there have always been quieter truths—
carried through care.
The truth of the mother.
A mother does not love through dominance.
She does not raise through division.
She does not measure worth by difference.
She receives.
She holds.
She nurtures what is.
And in that… there is a form of leadership humanity is remembering again.
The Return of Balance
This moment is not about replacing one power with another.
It is not reversal.
It is restoration.
Strength without care fractures.
Care without strength exhausts.
We are witnessing a rebalancing.
Voices once quiet are now speaking.
Perspectives once dismissed are now being heard.
The energy of nurturing, intuition, and inclusion is rising—
not to overpower… but to stabilize.
Yes—change brings discomfort.
Yes—it brings fear.
But fear is not always a warning.
Sometimes… it is simply the feeling of something new being born.
A Mother’s Charge
To the women gathered here—the Umma of Inanna—
You are not here to escalate.
You are not here to divide.
You are here to steady.
To be calm within movement.
To be the voice that says:
we can evolve without destroying each other.
A mother does not abandon her child when he struggles.
She does not discard him when he is lost.
She sees him—first as her creation,
then as his becoming.
And so we are called to see humanity:
Not as enemies…
but as beings still learning.
Seeing Through Each Other’s Eyes
If this era is to be Great—not just good—
We must expand perception.
We must learn to see through each other’s eyes.
Not to agree on everything…
but to understand enough to choose peace.
Because what is truly meant for good
does not need force.
It becomes clear.
From Good to Great
Today we honor all perspectives.
We honor the grief.
We honor the past.
We honor what was—and what is becoming.
And we step forward with intention.
From Good Friday…
to Great Friday.
A day where change is guided.
A day where power is balanced.
A day where the world is illuminated—together.
Closing Blessing
May you walk gently in this time of change.
May your voice bring calm where there is fear.
May your presence remind others they are still held.
And may we learn to see not just from where we stand…
but from the light we create together.
Closing Chant (to be read together)
We are the calm, we are the guide,
We hold the change, we stand beside.
With steady hearts and open sight,
We turn this day to greater light.
Art Project: “The Clearing Waters”
Spring Renewal Through the Mud
Concept
Spring isn’t just bloom—it’s mess first.
Melting snow, mud, puddles, runoff… the Earth releases what was stuck.
This project mirrors that truth:
We don’t skip the mess. We move through it—until it becomes clarity.
Theme Message (for participants)
“The puddles reflect what we couldn’t see before.
The mud holds what we are ready to release.
And the water… carries it away.”
Materials Needed
-
Canvas or thick paper (any size)
-
Acrylic paints (earth tones, blues, whites, metallics if available)
-
Water cups (important for flow effect)
-
Old cloths or paper towels
-
Spray bottle (optional)
-
Natural elements (optional: small sticks, leaves, sand)
-
Marker or pen for final words
Step-by-Step Experience
1. The Mud Layer (Release)
Invite participants to start messy—no plan.
-
Use browns, greys, dark tones
-
Apply with hands, cloths, or rough brush strokes
-
Let it feel heavy, chaotic, unclear
Prompt:
“What feels stuck, heavy, or unclear in your life right now?”
No overthinking—just movement.
2. The Puddle (Reflection)
-
Add water to the canvas (light splashing, dripping, or spraying)
-
Introduce blues, silvers, soft whites
-
Let colors bleed and move naturally
Encourage tilting the canvas.
Prompt:
“What is this mess trying to show you?”
This stage is about seeing differently.
3. The Clearing Flow (Release into Motion)
-
Add lighter tones, gentle strokes, or flowing lines
-
Use cloths to lift paint off in some areas (symbolic clearing)
-
Allow parts of the “mud” to soften and transform
Prompt:
“What are you ready to let move through you instead of stay in you?”
4. The Reflection Mark (Clarity)
Once semi-dry:
-
Write a word, phrase, or symbol into the piece
-
Could be written subtly within the puddle areas
Examples:
-
“Clarity”
-
“I release”
-
“I see now”
-
Personal symbols
5. The Light Touch (Renewal)
Final step:
-
Add small highlights (white, gold, metallic, or bright color)
-
Keep it minimal—like light catching water
Prompt:
“What is emerging in you now?”
Group Reflection:
-
What did your “mud” feel like?
-
Did anything shift when the water was added?
-
What did you discover in the reflection?
-
What are you leaving behind in this piece?
Closing Message
“Just like the Earth, we are allowed to be messy before we are clear.
Nothing that surfaces in us is wrong—it is ready.
And when we allow it to move,
we don’t just clean… we renew.”
Notice the little Things...
“Puddle Walk Practice” (Outdoor Integration)
Participants after the session:
-
Take a short walk
-
Look into real puddles
-
Notice reflections, distortions, movement
Prompt:
“What do I see now that I didn’t before?”
