☃️ FIND THE SNOWMEN — A WINNIPEG WINTER COMMUNITY HUNT!

☃️ FIND THE SNOWMEN — A WINNIPEG WINTER COMMUNITY HUNT!

☃️ FIND THE SNOWMEN — A WINNIPEG WINTER COMMUNITY HUNT!

This winter, let's get outside, explore our neighbourhoods and discover the snowmen people create across Winnipeg!

Build a snowman and describe it using words—but secretly leave 3 things out of your description. Share the neighbourhood area, never the exact location.

Hunters search the neighbourhood to find your snowman. Think you found it? Describe it and name one thing you noticed that wasn't in the original description. If the builder confirms you're right, you found the snowman!

🌎 Everyone is welcome. Be creative, be active, explore safely and enjoy winter together.

Different Faces. Brighter Places. A Warmer Winnipeg. ☃️❄️

Visit our site www.inkfluenceofart.com or check your local community centres and libraries for more details and information, lets get involved this winter, keep Winnipeg closely connected. Let's put some marshmallows in your hot chocolates. Fun is warmth in winter language.

☃️ What Can You Use to Make a Snow Person?

You could expand the original materials with cultural and personal elements:

  • Headwear: toque, knitted cap, turban-style craft wrap, headscarf-inspired fabric, cowboy hat, family-made hat, traditional winter headwear represented respectfully, or something completely invented.

  • Clothing & fabric: scarves, tartan or plaid, colourful textiles, ribbon, woven fabric, old clothing, fabric representing family heritage, or colours from a country/community important to the creator.

  • Face & features: stones, buttons, pinecones, sticks, carrots, berries and natural materials—with different expressions, ages and appearances.

  • Hands & accessories: broom, hockey stick, walking stick, book, paintbrush, musical instrument made from cardboard, gardening tool, little flag, lantern, cup, toy, or something representing the person's work or interests.

  • Language: a little sign saying Welcome, Peace, Friendship, Home, Winter, Love or another positive word in the creator's own language.

  • Family & community: build a snow family, elders, children, friends, neighbours, newcomers, different abilities, or even snow pets. Not every snow figure has to look the same—or even be a traditional three-ball snowman.

  • Canadian nature: pinecones, evergreen branches, fallen twigs, dried grasses and other responsibly gathered materials can connect the figures to the land and winter itself.

☃️ PLANTING THE SEED

What do YOU use to build a snow person?

A carrot?

A pinecone?

A favourite scarf?

Something from your culture?

Something from your family?

A word from your language?

Something that simply represents you?

Canada's winter may cover the ground in the same snow, but that doesn't mean we all have to build the same snowman.

This winter, build one that tells a story.

Build your culture.

Build your personality.

Build your family traditions.

Build your imagination.

Build your community.

Then take a look at what everyone else created.

Different doesn't have to divide us.

Different can make the neighbourhood more interesting.

🌱 Plant the seed. Let the idea grow.

No One Left Behind.

I’d make confirmation simple and privacy-friendly: the hunter never needs to reveal exactly where the snowman is.

How Builders Confirm a Find ☃️

When a hunter thinks they found your snowman, they post one of the three missing details that you intentionally left out of your original description.

For example, you described: “A smiling snowman with a purple scarf, stick arms and heart-shaped buttons.” But you secretly left out: purple earmuffs, a pinecone beside it, and a tiny bell.

The hunter says: “I found it! It has purple earmuffs.”

The builder checks the answer. If purple earmuffs were one of the three secret details, the builder replies “CONFIRMED! ☃️ You found my snowman!” The builder then adds purple earmuffs to the public description, leaving only two secret clues for future hunters.

This gives the game a natural progression: 3 secret clues → first find → 2 clues remain → second find → 1 remains → final find → snowman completed.

It also means hunters prove they actually observed the snowman without posting its exact address, a photograph of someone's home, or other identifying residential information.
